CRITICAL CULTURAL STUDIES RESEARCHER.
GENDER AND SEXUALITY STUDIES EDUCATOR.
ANTI-SEXUAL VIOLENCE SCHOLAR ACTIVIST.
I am a sexual violence researcher, doctoral candidate within the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and certificate holder within the Dornsife Department of Gender & Sexuality Studies at the University of Southern California. I am currently a Visiting Instructor within the Critical Theory and Social Justice department at Occidental College. Through an interdisciplinary lens I broadly focus on power, violence and trauma to understand the global complexities of gender-based violence. Under the umbrella of sexual violence, I study the distinct form of power-based harm known as multiple perpetrator rape. Through my current and forthcoming work I engage a critical cultural studies, intersectionality studies, masculinities studies, critical whiteness studies, transnational feminism, and transformative justice framework, seeking to better understand how culture informs instances of MPR on an international scale. The breadth of my intellectual interests includes trauma-informed pedagogy, critical theories of race and culture, critical whiteness studies, critical media studies, cultural appropriation, and most importantly, theories of power.
